Gibbs already handled 320 offensive touches last season while playing 67 percent of the offensive snaps, so becoming the clear lead option is not a complete change in workload. The question is whether another increase in carries required him to alter the physical preparation or recovery routine that supported his production in 2025.

Jahmyr Gibbs said his preparation has remained unchanged, explaining, “No, I do the same stuff every year.” He added, “Stay consistent and do what I do.”
Petzing Connects Run And Pass
Gibbs creates problems because the Lions can run or throw without changing personnel. Petzing can increase that stress by making the initial presentation of both concepts resemble each other. If linebackers hesitate while determining run or pass, the offense can create better blocking angles underneath or more space behind them.
Reporter’s question: “What have you liked about Drew’s offense, maybe in particular when it comes to the run game and the use of the running backs in the pass game as well?”
Gibbs pointed to the connection between the two phases, saying Petzing “puts the run game and pass game, makes it look the same.” He added, “I think that’ll help us a lot in whatever we want to do.” Gibbs also praised Petzing’s ability to create opportunities, saying, “He puts us in a lot of spots, you know, to make plays and win.”
