Week 1 the Detroit Lions take down the Packers away (win margin +10). Week 2 there is no way you can tell me that Ben Johnson is coming back to Ford Field and beating the Lions. The Lions beat the Bears (win margin +9) open up the division and the season 2-0.

Week three, the Lions are headed to Baltimore and the Lions will pull out a close game beating the Ravens (win margin +6). Now sitting at 3-0 and a strong start to the season, the Lions come back home to take on the Browns winning this game in convincing fashion (win margin +14).

Week 1 Vs Packers: Lions Lose As Defense Fails To Impress: 27-13

The Detroit Lions opened up the season on the road and blew every tire on the way to Green Bay. This was one of the worst efforts, game plans and execution we have witnessed by the Detroit Lions since 2021. Lions lose 27-13

Week 2 Vs Bears: Benedict Johnson Gets STOMPED OUT: 52-21

The Lions came home for the grudge match versus Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears. It was everything I expected and more! Ben was booed viciously, and the epic lack of control for his team made it all the more sweeter of a victory. The Lions put on a display of force putting up 52 points, over 500 yards of offense and Goff threw for 5 TDs. Goff also broke more records go figure and show Ben Johnson just how much he will miss Detroit.

Week 3 Vs Ravens: Lions Win Crushing Ravens ON MNF: 38-30

The Lions put on a clinic against the Ravens. The Detroit Lions went into M&T Bank Stadium and delivered a physical, explosive performance that overwhelmed the Ravens 38–30 on Monday night. Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery each scored two rushing touchdowns, combining for 224 yards on the ground as Detroit bullied Baltimore’s front seven from start to finish. Detroit’s defense sacked Lamar Jackson seven times, tying the most he’s ever taken in a single game. Baltimore managed 288 passing yards and three touchdowns from Jackson, but the Lions held the Ravens to just 85 rushing yards and forced a critical fourth-quarter fumble from Derrick Henry.

Week 4 Vs Browns: Convincing Win VS #1 Defense: 34–10

The Lions improved to 3–1 with a convincing 34–10 win over the Cleveland Browns at Ford Field in Week 4. Despite a modest offensive output, Detroit capitalized on turnovers and special teams to seize control of the game.

Jared Goff went 16-of-27 for 168 yards, throwing two touchdown passes to Amon‑Ra St. Brown, who finished with 7 catches for 70 yards. This brings St. Brown to six touchdowns in his last three games. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs added balance with 91 rushing yards on 15 carries, including an 8‑yard touchdown run. Kalif Raymond returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter, stretching Detroit’s lead and deflating Cleveland’s hopes.

Defensively, the Lions were relentless. Aidan Hutchinson recorded two sacks and forced a fumble, while the secondary picked off Joe Flacco twice. In total, Detroit converted three Browns turnovers into 17 points. Jack Campbell led the team with 10 tackles, and Alex Anzalone added a sack and an interception

2nd Quarter: Predicted Lions Record 3-1

Week five the Lions head south to Cincinnati. After a tough four weeks of play, learning the new schemes, the Lions should be rolling at this point. With their 3rd road game in five weeks the Lions drop this one in a shootout to end the 4th quarter (margin loss -4).

The Lions have not lost back to back games in over 22 months, but they do stay on the road this time headed to Kansas City. The Lions win this one in convincing fashion (win margin + 14).

Heading back home week seven to take on the Tampa Bay Bucs before a much needed bye week. The Lions take care of business with another win (win margin + 5). To finish the 2nd quarter, the Lions have a bye week week 8.

The Lions come back home week 9 after the bye week to take on the Vikings in the 3rd division matchup of the season, this is a win. JJ McCarthy is not who you thought he was (win margin +12).

Week 5 Vs Bengals: Lions Cruise Over To A Victory: 37-24

I had this penciled in as a loss, assuming Joe Burrow would be under center. Instead, the Detroit Lions pushed their record to 4–1 with a 37–24 road win at Paycor Stadium. It marked Detroit’s fourth straight victory and their first over Cincinnati since 1992.

Offense: Jared Goff was nearly flawless, completing 19 of 23 passes for 258 yards and three touchdowns (153.0 passer rating). He connected with Sam LaPorta, Jahmyr Gibbs, and rookie Isaac TeSlaa for scores. David Montgomery had a special homecoming, rushing for 65 yards and a touchdown while also throwing a 3‑yard TD pass to Brock Wright on a trick play. Gibbs added 54 rushing yards and a 20‑yard receiving touchdown.

Defense & Special Teams: Detroit’s defense forced three interceptions (Amik Robertson, Kerby Joseph, Alex Anzalone), converting them into 14 points. Aidan Hutchinson and Derrick Barnes combined for three sacks, with Barnes also recording a late safety. Jack Fox pinned the Bengals inside their own 10 four times, flipping field position all afternoon

Key Stat: Detroit led 28–3 entering the fourth quarter before Cincinnati added three late touchdowns. The Lions’ balance across all three phases — offense, defense, and special teams — proved decisive.

Week 6 Vs Chiefs: Lions Drop A Heartbreaker To The Refs: 17-30

Offense: Jared Goff battled through a tough night against Kansas City’s defense, completing 23 of 29 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns. Goff found Jameson Williams for a 22‑yard strike and Sam LaPorta for a short 4‑yard score, keeping Detroit within reach. Jahmyr Gibbs provided bursts of energy with 65 rushing yards on 17 carries, while also adding key receptions out of the backfield. Amon‑Ra St. Brown was held in check, finishing with just 45 yards, as the Chiefs’ secondary limited Detroit’s rhythm.

Defense & Special Teams: Detroit’s defense couldn’t find the turnover magic it had shown in earlier weeks. Patrick Mahomes was sharp, throwing for 257 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for a score. Marquise Brown torched the Lions with two touchdown grabs, and rookie Xavier Worthy added another. Aidan Hutchinson generated pressure and forced a strip sack, but Kansas City recovered momentum immediately the next play. For special teams, Jake Bates converted a 28‑yard field goal, but Jack Fox was forced to punt deep multiple times as Detroit’s offense stalled.

Key Stat: Kansas City played a clean game — zero turnovers, zero penalties — while Detroit was flagged six times, including two drive‑killing holds. Let me say that again, the Chiefs were dirty as hell but refs clearly had other plans. That imbalance fueled postgame frustration and reignited the “rigged nfl” conversation. The perception that officiating tilted momentum only added to the sting of a 30–17 defeat.

Week 7 Vs Bucs: Lions Thump Bucs With Legion Of Whom: 24-9

Offense: Jared Goff was efficient, completing 20 of 29 passes for 241 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He opened the scoring with a 27‑yard strike to Amon‑Ra St. Brown, setting the tone for Detroit’s passing game. The night belonged to Jahmyr Gibbs, who delivered two highlight‑reel rushing touchdowns — a 78‑yard sprint in the second quarter and a 5‑yard score in the third — finishing with 17 carries for 124 yards. Gibbs’ explosiveness kept Tampa Bay’s defense on its heels, while David Montgomery chipped in steady short‑yardage work.

Defense & Special Teams: Detroit’s defense frustrated Baker Mayfield, holding him to one touchdown pass while forcing an interception. The Buccaneers managed just 9 points, with their lone touchdown coming on a 22‑yard pass to Tez Johnson in the third quarter. Al-Quadin Muhammad, Derrick Barnes & Jack Campbell applied consistent pressure, collapsing the pocket and limiting Tampa Bay’s deep shots. Special teams added their own spark: Jake Bates drilled a 58‑yard field goal in the fourth quarter while Jack Fox’s punting controlled field position, pinning the Bucs deep multiple times.

Key Stat: Detroit outgained Tampa Bay 379 to 251 in total yards, with Gibbs alone accounting for 83% of the Lions’ rushing production. Both teams were flagged six times, but Lions fans noted how timing and enforcement seemed to favor Tampa Bay early, fueling another round of “rigged NFL” conversations in the aftermath. The perception of uneven officiating lingered despite Detroit’s decisive 24–9 victory.

Week 9 Vs Vikings: Lions Lose Ugly & Unprepared: 24-27

Offense: Jared Goff opened strong, hitting Sam LaPorta for a 40‑yard touchdown on the opening drive. The Vikings poured on 14 unanswered points in the 1st quarter. Halfway through the 2nd quarter Montgomery scored on a 2-yd run tying the game. Vikings added a FG late in the 2nd and 7 more points to open the 3rd quarter. Down 10 the Lions cannot convert a turnover into a touchdown settling for a FG. Down 27-17 Goff connected with Jameson Williams on a 34‑yard strike with under two minutes left, trimming the deficit to 27–24. It was too little to late as John Morton called a terrible game with ZERO rhythm!

Goff finished 25 of 37 for 284 yards and two touchdowns, but Detroit’s offense sputtered in between, managing just 65 rushing yards. A lost David Montgomery fumble in the third stalled momentum. Amon‑Ra St. Brown dropped a potential touchdown in the end zone, emblematic of a night where execution slipped at key moments.

Defense & Special Teams: Detroit’s defense was unable to contain McCarthy, who threw touchdowns to Justin Jefferson (10 yards) and T.J. Hockenson (7 yards) and scrambled for a 9‑yard score. The Lions’ pass rush pressured and produced 5 sacks but couldn’t finish on the next play allowing Minnesota to convert clutch third downs.

Special teams compounded the frustration. The Lions 1st Kickoff was returned 61 yards giving the Vikings FG range to start their 1st drive that ended in 7 points. A Jake Bates kickoff was returned for a TD, and had it not been for a holding call it would have stood. Jake Bates hit a 41‑yard field goal, but his earlier attempt was blocked and the ball returned deep into Lions territory setting up a Vikings field goal extending the Vikings lead. Jack Fox’s punting was steady, but the blocked kick and failures by the coverage teams loomed large.

Key Stat: Detroit was held to 305 total yards and just 65 rushing yards, while Minnesota managed only 258 yards but capitalized on mistakes piling up 142 rushing yards against a stiff Lions run defense. The Lions committed 10 penalties, including two defensive holds that extended Vikings drives. That imbalance plus a fumble and the blocked field goal were huge momentum‑shifting moments.

3rd Quarter: Predicted Lions Record 3-1

Back on the road in week 10, the Lions have revenge on their minds headed to Washington. Aidan has his best game of the season, as well as Terrion Arnold, this is a win (win margin +8).

Lions emptied the tank versus the commanders, and now head to Philadelphia week 11. I do believe this game can be won and can go either way. With the Lions gassed from week 10, the Lions drop a close game week 11 (margin loss -4). Lions head home for week 12 to take on the Giants, this should be an easier matchup defensively for the Lions, offensively they will encounter a stiff defensive front, Lions win (win margin +8).

Lions back home in week 13 to face the Packers. The Lions are in a groove defensively putting on a dominant display in this game, lions win (win margin +11).

Quarter 3 Update: Lions 2-2 | Rock 3-1

Week 10 Vs Wash: Dan Campbell Takes Control Lions Win: 44-22

Dan Campbell’s decision to take over play-calling was a bold move that paid immediate dividends. The Lions’ offense looked explosive, creative, and unstoppable - exactly what Campbell envisioned when he took the job.

With the Lions sitting at 6-3 and firing on all cylinders, the question isn’t whether they can make the playoffs - it’s whether they can win the Super Bowl. And with Campbell calling plays, that possibility just became a lot more realistic.

Offense: Dan Campbell stripped John Morton of play-calling duties and took control himself, producing immediate and explosive results. The Lions scored on every single drive except the final possession that ended the game, posting a season-high 546 total yards and 44 points. Jared Goff operated with precision and rhythm, executing Campbell’s aggressive game plan flawlessly with multiple touchdown passes and zero turnovers. The running game came alive after managing just 65 yards against Minnesota, with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs forming a dynamic duo that punished Washington’s defense with physical, downhill running.

Goff’s efficiency was on full display as he distributed the ball to his elite weapons. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Sam LaPorta all made significant contributions in a balanced attack that kept the Commanders’ defense off-balance. The red zone execution was perfect—the Lions finished drives with touchdowns instead of settling for field goals, a stark contrast to recent weeks. Campbell’s play-action concepts devastated Washington’s secondary, and his aggressive fourth-down mentality kept drives alive. The offense operated with tempo, rhythm, and purpose—everything that had been missing under Morton’s play-calling.

Defense & Special Teams: The Lions’ defense held Washington to 22 points and forced the Commanders into difficult situations throughout the game. While the Commanders managed to score, Detroit’s defense made key stops when needed and didn’t allow Washington to establish any momentum. The pass rush generated pressure, and the secondary limited big plays downfield.

Special teams performed solidly with no major breakdowns. Jake Bates connected on field goal attempts, and Jack Fox’s punting pinned Washington deep when needed. The coverage units were disciplined and didn’t allow explosive returns that had plagued them in previous weeks.

Key Stat: The Lions posted a season-high 546 total yards and 44 points while scoring on every drive except the final possession. The offensive explosion represented a massive improvement from the previous three games where Detroit averaged just 21.7 points per game. Campbell’s play-calling produced immediate results: better rhythm, aggressive downfield shots, perfect red zone execution, and balanced utilization of the Lions’ elite weapons. The contrast between Morton’s stagnant offense (65 rushing yards vs. Vikings) and Campbell’s explosive attack (546 total yards vs. Commanders) couldn’t be more stark—and it raises serious questions about Morton’s future with the organization.

4th Quarter: Predicted Lions Record 4-1

Leading the NFC North the Lions start the last quarter against an NFC rival Dallas Cowboys, this time at home, lions win big (win margin +16). Back on the road week 14, the Lions face another NFC rival in the L.A. Rams. This time Goff gets booed and no kids are involved, oh wait. Jared gets his final revenge winning in L.A (win margin +9).

Back home after a long trip and not much time in between the upcoming games. The Lions take on the Steelers week 16. Aaron Rodgers has been playing well, but not good enough, Lions win a close game (win margin +5).

The Final two division matchups are last, the Minnesota Vikings week 17 on the road on Christmas. With the Lions two games ahead of the Packers, the Lions must win at least one game. Taking care of business in Minnesota the Lions open up a W on Christmas (win margin +6).

With the Lions out front winning the NFC 1 seed once again, Dan Campbell decides to rest some starters in preparation for the postseason. The game against Chicago week 18 at Soldier field ends in a loss for the Lions (margin loss -5)

The Detroit Lions enter Week 14 after a demoralizing loss to the Packers for the 2nd time this season, and again on Thanksgiving. This week hosting the Cowboys in what will be the 3rd home game in a row. The NFC North race is still alive if the Lions can win, winning out should still give them a shot at the division and the #1 seed with some help from NFC teams. At 7–5, Detroit sits just behind the (8-3-1) Packers and the surging (9-3) Chicago Bears. This weeks matchup is more than a game, there is real hate between these two teams fan bases after the 2023 game sealing 2-point conversion that wasn’t, The NFL mishandling the situation, and fallout that ensued after.

Injury Report: Detroit Lions

Lions Injury Front: Detroit’s Week 14 injury report is better and yet somehow worse. Another daunting amount of injuries still linger, eleven (11) players appeared on the list, and by Wednesday, the Lions had ruled out four (4) starters and listed seven (7) more as questionable.

Already without TE Sam LaPorta, who is on IR for the rest of the year as of two weeks ago. Primary backup TE Brock Wright is ruled out as well with a neck injury. Of bigger concerns, Amon-Ra St. Brown is questionable after a Week 13 ankle injury knocked him out of the game. St. Brown will be a game-time decision despite not practicing all week. To make matters worse, all-pro punt returner and clutch play maker Kalif Raymond is ruled out already.

Week 14 | NFC North Spotlight

This week reshuffles the NFC North picture: Chicago and Green Bay trade blows in a pivotal divisional game, Minnesota is out of the contest at this point, but a home test against Washington nonetheless, and Detroit’s Thursday night showdown with Dallas has major wild‑card implications, and it is also a “MUST-WIN” game.

Week 14 Call

BEARS vs. PACKERS: Chicago (9-3) visits Green Bay (8-3-1) in a matchup that will likely determine who controls the NFC North heading into the final month.

Chicago comes into week 14 riding a strong stretch built on a dominant running game. Caleb Williams, who has been dynamic at times is severely inconsistent, which has been hidden inside of the run game success. When needed most, Caleb Williams often fails in the brightest moments.

What Chicago must do to win: Establish the run early, shorten the game, and force the Packers Defense into longer drives. The Bears’ identity this season has been a dominant rushing attack that controls tempo; leaning on D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai to chew clock and create play‑action windows for Caleb Williams. This is the clearest path to victory. Key strength: time‑of‑possession and red‑zone rushing efficiency. Key weakness: inconsistent QB play, downfield passing and protection on obvious passing downs.

The Packers on the other hand come into week 14 with the NFC North Crown within grasp. Green Bay’s body of work through Week 13 showed a team that wins by mixing efficient passing with situational rushing and by leaning on veteran decision‑making in close games. The offense has been built around Jordan Love’s ability to take calculated shots while managing the game; when the run game is effective it opens play‑action and keeps opponents off balance.

What must the Packers do to win: Love has graded extremely well when kept clean and on play‑action concepts, which produces high‑value throws and big‑play chances for perimeter targets. The Packers should prioritize establishing Josh Jacobs on early downs to control tempo and force the Bears to respect the run; that will open up play‑action shots to receivers and tight ends. Key strength: establishing a manageable down‑and‑distance profile that opens up high‑value play‑action shots creating explosive opportunities for perimeter targets and tight ends. Key Weakness: play calling when the run game stalls or the defense refuses to bite on play‑action, the Packers can struggle to consistently move the chains through the middle of the field

Edge: Packers

VIKINGS vs. WASHINGTON: The Washington Commanders and Minnesota Vikings enter their Week 14 clash in Minneapolis at a crossroads, with both teams enduring significant losing streaks that have all but eliminated their playoff hopes (Washington 3-9, Minnesota 4-8).

Washington is looking to snap a seven-game skid, the latest a competitive overtime loss to the Broncos, in which the team showed signs of progress despite the defeat. A key strength for the Commanders heading into this game is their returning quarterback Jayden Daniels, who missed several weeks with an elbow injury but is expected to start. He is a dual-threat player whose athleticism could pose problems for the Vikings’ defense.

What must the Commander’s do to win: their offense needs to leverage Daniels’ mobility and effectively use their returning pass-catchers, including Terry McLaurin, against a Vikings defense that, while solid against the pass recently, has a lot to scheme for with a mobile QB. Defensively, Washington needs to pressure Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy and contain Minnesota’s running backs, as their own run defense has been a weak point this season, allowing the second-most passing yards per game in the NFL.

ROCK’S LOCKS | WIN/LOSS: 9-5 | OVERALL: 95-53

The Lions enter Week 10 at 5–3, firmly in the NFC playoff mix but needing a clean bounce‑back after the Vikings loss. The next stretch will define their season: at Washington, at Philadelphia, then home for the Giants, Packers (Thanksgiving), and Cowboys on TNF. The LIons will go 5-0 is my prediction.

Lions Injury front: Rookie guard Christian Mahogany was placed on IR with a broken bone; Taylor Decker (shoulder) and Penei Sewell (shoulder) are trending toward starting. In the secondary, Kerby Joseph (knee) remains out, D.J. Reed is still weeks away, and Avonte Maddox (hamstring) is easing back — leaving Detroit without its top coverage aces. Terrion Arnold returned last week, grabbed his first career interception, and has shown stellar coverage despite needing polish in run support.

Practice windows opened for OL Miles Frazier and DE Josh Paschal, but they may need time before activation. Pat O’Connor and Jacob Saylors also listed as out for this game.

Washington injuries that matter for matchup: Jayden Daniels (elbow) is out; multiple Commanders starters are sidelined across offense and defense, further tilting Week 10 toward Detroit. The bigger names out for this game; WR Terry McLaurin, WR Noah Brown, WR Luke McCaffrey and CB Marshon Lattimore.

The Good News: Defensively, Aidan Hutchinson remains the tone-setter. He’s already among league leaders in pressures and strip-sacks, LB Derrick Barnes has emerged as a complementary force, adding sacks and splash plays, while Jack Campbell has been one of the best in the league through 9 weeks. Offensively, Jared Goff continues to distribute efficiently, with Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta anchoring the passing game. The real spark is Jahmyr Gibbs, whose explosiveness on the ground and in the passing game forces defenses to account for him every snap.

In The Standings: The Lions fell to the #7 seed after the loss to the Vikings. Hanging on to what could become a 3 legged race to the NFC North crown in 2025, the Lions are in the hunt and have not played anywhere near their best ball. Detroit averages 29.9 points per game (2nd in NFL) and has a +61 point differential — undefeated when rushing for 100+ yards, winless when held under that mark. Defensively, they rank middle of the pack in yards allowed but top‑10 in red‑zone efficiency when healthy. Special teams remain a strength, with Jake Bates providing long-range reliability and Jack Fox consistently flipping field position.

NFC North Week 10 Spotlight

LIONS at COMMANDERS: Detroit (5–3) heads to Washington looking to rebound after the Vikings loss. The Commanders (3–6) are starting Marcus Mariota, they have struggled to protect its quarterbacks, allowing 29 sacks dealing with a rash of injuries across the roster. Washington’s defense has allowed over 26 points and 377 yards per game this season while their secondary has been vulnerable to big plays.

Detroit’s offense remains dangerous with Jared Goff, Amon‑Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, and Jahmyr Gibbs. If the Lions protect Goff and Lions OC John Morton can find balance and explosiveness while avoiding the self‑inflicted mistakes and communication issues from Week 9. The Lions offense should have a strong performance. The Lions pass rush led by Aidan Hutchinson, Muhammad & Barnes should tilt the game. If the Lions establish tempo early, they can force the Commanders into catch‑up mode, where turnovers are likely. Advantage: Detroit’s pass rush and offensive balance.

RAVENS at VIKINGS: Minnesota (4–4) turns to rookie J.J. McCarthy again, facing a Ravens defense that thrives on pressure. Baltimore (3–5) has been inconsistent but still boasts a disruptive front seven. The Vikings’ offensive line has already allowed heavy pressure this season, and Justin Jefferson will be shadowed by a secondary that ranks top‑10 in limiting explosive plays. Minnesota’s defense has been opportunistic, but Lamar Jackson’s dual‑threat ability stresses them vertically and horizontally. If McCarthy is forced into obvious passing downs, Baltimore’s blitz packages could overwhelm him. Edge: Detroit’s balance and Washington’s QB/injury situation.

GIANTS at BEARS: Chicago (5–3) returns to Soldier Field with Caleb Williams leading a ground‑heavy attack featuring D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai. The Giants (2–7) start rookie Jaxson Dart who’s added mobility and playmaking ability has struggled to generate much of an offense after losing Skattebo. Averaging under 20 points per game, the offensive line remains a liability. The Giants defense is allowing 27.7 points per game while getting gashed on the ground. If the Bears avoid penalties and finish inside the red zone, they should control this matchup. Expect Chicago to lean heavily into the ground game early. Chicago’s defense, while inconsistent, should be able to collapse the pocket forcing Dart into costly 3rd down mistakes. Bears stay in the wild card chase. Edge: Bears’ run game and home field vs struggling Giants.

EAGLES at PACKERS (MNF): Green Bay (5–2–1) hosts Philadelphia (6–2) in a marquee Monday night showdown at Lambeau The Eagles fortified their defense at the deadline and sit in the NFC’s top tier. Jordan Love has been sharp, but the Packers’ offense sputtered last week against Carolina and looking to rebound after a pathetic performance. Philadelphia counters with a reinforced secondary and a pass rush that can match Green Bay’s intensity. This game likely hinges on whether Love can stretch the field against Philly’s corners and whether the Packers’ offensive line can hold up. If Green Bay protects Love, they can trade blows with the Eagles’ balanced attack, but it will be to little too late. Slight edge: Philadelphia’s depth VS Lambeau under the lights

BEARS at RAVENS

Chicago is riding a four-game heater after an 0-2 start, leaning on a run game that’s churned out 145+ yards in back-to-back weeks. Caleb Williams has been efficient, but the red-zone issues linger. Baltimore, meanwhile, is a wounded 1-5 squad that’s been gashed defensively (32.3 points allowed per game). The wild card: Lamar Jackson’s hamstring. If he’s back, the Ravens’ offense instantly looks different. If not, it’s Huntley again, and that’s a problem. Bears’ formula: keep the turnover edge (+11 on the year) and pound Swift/Monangai. Ravens’ hope: Jackson + Roquan Smith’s return sparks a pride game.

Baltimore’s season is teetering. They’ve lost four straight, and the defense has forced just three takeaways all year. If Jackson plays, they can still score in bunches. If not, it’s another long Sunday. The Ravens’ defense has to find a way to slow down Caleb Williams on third down (league-best 105.8 passer rating in those spots). If they don’t, Chicago walks out with five straight wins and Baltimore slides deeper into irrelevance.

BUCCANEERS at SAINTS

Tampa Bay (5-2) just got humbled by Detroit, but this is a classic bounce-back spot. Baker Mayfield’s MVP buzz took a hit, and losing Mike Evans stings, but rookies Emeka Egbuka and Tez Johnson give them juice. The Saints (1-6) are in full scramble mode with Spencer Rattler showing flashes but also turnovers (3 INTs last week). Todd Bowles’ defense has been leaky with explosive plays—if they clean that up, Bucs should control. Expect Tampa to lean on balance, get to the bye at 6-2, and reset for the stretch run.

STEELERS vs PACKERS (SNF)

Pittsburgh (4-2) under the lights, hosting Rodgers’ old team. The Steelers’ defense just got embarrassed by Ja’Marr Chase, so communication in the secondary is the storyline. Green Bay brings a deep WR group, and Jordan Love is careful with the ball (low tight-window throw rate). Steelers’ path: run game + Watt disruption + turnovers. Packers’ path: force Rodgers into obvious passing downs behind a shaky OL. This one feels like a grind-it-out Tomlin special—ugly, close, and decided late.

As week 7 gets underway, I am holding on to a 1st place tie with Jeremy Fowler. What was a crazy good week 5 was a tough week 6. This week should be no different as many conference games start to shape the playoff scenarios. I may lose the Thief’s/Raiders game as I will not choose the Chiefs to win PERIOD! However, the Raiders may shock everyone in this matchup.

Potential Upsets Of The Week

JETS: At some point the Jets have to win and its week 7 against the Panthers team that has splashed but not very consistent. The Jets’ best chance is to sell out vs the run, force Bryce Young into obvious passing downs, and let their front four dictate. If they can hold Dowdle under 70 yards and keep McMillan from explosive plays, this game stays in reach.

BROWNS: Regardless if the Browns QB (WHO) plays well, I expect the Browns defense to give the Dolphins trouble. If Schwartz’s unit can hold Miami to FGs instead of TDs, Browns flip the script. Cleveland leans into Judkins + Garrett + weather, they can drag Miami into a Dawg Pound slugfest. The Browns don’t need fireworks—they need to win ugly.

COLTS: The Chargers are working with a patchwork offensive line, Joe Alt doubtful, Pipkins already ruled out, and Sayler battling a knee injury likely out. With the defense also banged up, DB Molden, LB Mack and LB Dye likely out the Colts have an opportunity to steal one here. The Colts are also carrying some injuries to star corner Charvarius Ward (OUT), LB Franklin, WR Josh Downs, and DE Ebukam (likely rest). If Indy’s front (Latu, Paye, Ebukam) can collapse Herbert behind a decimated OL, the Colts can absolutely steal this on the road. But if Herbert gets rhythm and LA finishes drives, the Chargers’ home edge holds.

COMMANDERS: Washington is down its WR1 (McLaurin) and WR3 (Brown), while Dallas regains its WR1. Even with Diggs out, the Cowboys’ offensive firepower should outweigh their defensive flaws. Washington’s run game vs Dallas’ soft front is the equalizer. If Croskey-Merritt + Daniels’ legs control tempo, Washington can absolutely steal this.

What Happened

The Jets held it close, almost pulled off their first win of the season. The Lions bounced back, shutting down the Buccaneers in one of the most dominant games this season. Even with the entire starting secondary out, the Lions found a way to rally the next guys up that were not even on this team a week ago! The Browns pulled off the upset as I expected, the defense delivered a beatdown! The Commanders are really banged up, Jayden Daniels suffering a hamstring injury did’’t help things. Tennessee made the decision to fire Brian Callahan early in the week and entered Sunday hoping for a boost in performance with Mike McCoy serving as interim coach. The Titans are just a very bad team.

ROCK’S LOCKS | WIN/LOSS: 9-6 | OVERALL: 61-31

Finally back in first place and I am going to try to ride this one out and stay on top. I was too risky in week 3 and it bit me bad! This week there are some solid matchups and potential upsets on the way. The Titans and Raiders are just bad football teams right now, the Titans have to do one things, protect Cam Ward and they can win this week. I don’t see that happening and Geno Smith gives the ball away more than he throws touchdowns, so its anyone’s game.

The Lions have a massive matchup with the secondary banged up badly and the Defense needing a major boost up front to contain Mahomes. If the front four cannot win this Sunday Night the backend may give up too many explosives allowing KC to run away with this game. Jamo needs to get involved, Gibbs & Montgomery must have big games on the ground and providing protection for Jared Goff. This is anyone’s game right now, but I am taking my Lions.

What Happened

GUT PUNCH - Left all Lions fans with the RIGGED NFL feeling once again. The Lions did a good job on the opening drive, too. They ran 15 plays over a 9:39 span, chewing up so much clock that Mahomes looked downright bored on the sideline. And it looked as if it would pay off when David Montgomery took a direct snap and threw to Goff, who powered into the end zone from a yard out for a touchdown.

But the officials came together to discuss the play, and even though nobody had thrown a flag, they eventually said Goff was not set — an illegal motion penalty. After a delay of game, the Lions had to settle for Jake Bates‘ chip-shot field goal.

Summary: Cam Skattebo runs for 3 TDs and Jaxson Dart shines as the Giants beat the Eagles 34-17The Raiders (2-4) ended a four-game skid, and the Titans (1-5) missed an opportunity to win consecutive games for the first time since November of 2022, a 47-game stretch. Packers overcome Flacco’s comeback attempt and beat the Bengals 27-18.Darnold, Smith-Njigba and defense carry Seahawks to 20-12 victory at Jaguars.

This week has huge implications for my season. I can either make some headway and get back in this race, or the bottom will fall out and I am done. Pulling for the Saints to find their 1st win against the Giants. Expecting the Texans to run all over the Ravens depleted team due to injuries. The Broncos & Bucs should win but anything can happen in all these game this week. There will be one huge upset this week maybe two.

I thought we were finally going to hit one when the week got off to a fantastic start hitting 8 in a row! The week ended with a thriller on Monday Night! Trevor Lawrence made a huge play to score a TD after falling down getting stepped on, beating the Chiefs….WOW! The Cardinals lost a tight game by 1 point and the Bills completely fell apart against the Patriots defense. Finished the weekend strong pulling for the Saints to get their first win and it paid off. My best picks yet still came up a little short. The Lions looked good, but that 4th quarter defense was not up to the standard set the first three quarters. Hopefully the Lions can find some help before the Chiefs game.

Here we are yet again, another first quarter coming to a close of the NFL season. It is simply amazing how fast this happens. The Detroit Lions top rated offense is walking right into a wall in week 4. Will the offensive line be enough to keep Jared Goff clean? That is the biggest question headed into this matchup. The Lions have proven they have the offensive weapons, but without the offensive line this team tends to fold like a tent. The emphasis cannot be big enough to manage Garrett and stabilize the center of the offensive line with extra blockers and heavy use of 21 or 22 personnel in this game.

Week 1 is always a minefield—new schemes, unknown roles, and teams still finding their identity. Despite the chaos, I felt solid about my picks. I correctly called two upsets in a week defined by razor-thin margins and unpredictable finishes.

The average margin of victory was just +7.8125, with nine games decided by six points or fewer and five coming down to a field goal or less. Out of my four misses, the Detroit Lions took the hardest hit, falling by 14. The other three losses were all within five points—tight enough to sting, but not enough to shake confidence in the process.
