About Me & Hopefully Why You Are Here

My name is Will Rock, and I am a proud Detroit Lions devotee, a passion ignited at the tender age of four. My earliest and most treasured memory as a Lions fan was standing in the endzone of the iconic Pontiac Silverdome, as legends Gary Danielson and Billy Sims paused to take photos with me—a moment that solidified my lifelong dedication to this team. That family day at the Dome was only the first of many, as my love for the Lions grew into a steadfast commitment.

For over 41 years, I have been a relentless supporter, and for the past 27 years, a loyal Detroit Lions Member. While my early ambition to play football professionally was hindered by my size, my enthusiasm for the game never wavered. Instead, baseball became my sport of choice, but my heart remained tethered to football. There was a magnetic allure to the game that inspired me to delve deeply into its intricacies—analyzing strategies, dissecting plays, and, as soon as excel became a household tool, creating exhaustive spreadsheets of stats and analytics, even when they seemed inconsequential.

In 2022, an unexpected opportunity arose: I was invited to join a podcast. This stemmed from my impassioned Facebook posts—detailed analyses on schemes, philosophies, and staunch defenses of players like Jared Goff, coaches like Dan Campbell, or executives like Brad Holmes. These posts, often lengthy enough to rival mini-articles, reflected my unwavering belief in the Lions' transformation. The team was finally being constructed the way I had always envisioned: draft, develop, re-sign, and repeat.

The Reason Why For ME

Content creation was never part of my plan. Yet, the chance to foster a deeper connection with the Detroit Lions and the NFL was irresistible. My ambition was clear—to restore honesty, transparency, and integrity to sports media while bridging the gap between the fans and the team. Passionate though I was, I lacked a roadmap.

My pivotal moment came when I hosted a podcast and interviewed former Lions safety Glover Quin. It was then that I realized this endeavor wasn’t just a hobby—it was a calling I should have pursued a decade earlier. My aspiration wasn’t to become a beat writer or insider. My ultimate dream was to work in the NFL as a scout. But at 43 years old, with no formal experience, I questioned whether my unorthodox journey would ever be taken seriously. After all, who would care about the countless hours I had spent analyzing players and trends before platforms like PFF even existed?

Undeterred, I devised a plan. Step one: build a podcast network, cover all teams, expand my reach, and cultivate a community of like-minded individuals eager to create something meaningful. Step two: absorb every lesson along the way, connect with the right people, and hope for an opportunity to achieve my lifelong dream.

The research was exhaustive, and the journey began humbly. Streaming on every social platform available—including YouTube—I aimed to gain traction, little by little.

Tragedy Strikes

Before I even went live for the first time, life threw me an unimaginable curveball: I was diagnosed with cancer. It was a devastating blow, compounded by the fact that my significant other was already battling breast cancer. Nine months later, I found myself joining the fight as a patient. I resolved then and there that if I were to leave this earth, I would do so knowing I had pursued my childhood dream. I refused to let cancer define me; instead, I used it as fuel.

Determined, I leaned on my background in corporate sales and acquisitions. My ability to forge relationships, paired with my deep football knowledge, became the foundation of my plan. As a Lions fan, former coach, and obsessive student of the game, I channeled my passion into identifying hidden talent and studying the sport's evolution—all in pursuit of the next great discovery.

April 2023

Three days after my cancer surgery, I went live for the first time. Speech was difficult, but my determination to turn this platform into what I called “podutherapy” was unwavering. Progress was gradual, but by October 2023, I shifted to YouTube as my primary outlet. A piece of content went semi-viral, and for the first time, the fruits of my labor began to show. My audience grew, and people started to recognize my dedication, research, and authenticity.

Through sheer persistence, I became a fighter—not just against cancer but for my place in the world of NFL media. My goal remained steadfast: to provide honest, transparent, and thought-provoking content while staying true to my values.

Rise & Grind

After months of producing videos and livestreams, I set my sights on expanding into a weekday morning show dedicated to Detroit Lions content and NFL news. To complement the show, I launched a coffee brand inspired by the resilience of the Lions and cancer warriors alike. Triumph Coffee was created to fundraise my foundation, with every cup brewed symbolizing hope and determination.

The morning show has now been on air for over a year. With its success, I earned special NFL Media access as a credentialed member of the press—a crucial milestone that has allowed me to deliver even more valuable insights to my followers, subscribers, and listeners. Trust me when I say, this is only the beginning, and I owe it all to you!

The Foundation

My mission has always been bigger than football. Having endured the overwhelming financial and emotional toll of cancer, I knew I wanted to help others. In August 2024, the Rocked On Cancer Foundation was born. Its goal: to provide annual thyroid cancer screenings and raise awareness. Through podcasting and the generosity of donors and volunteers, we aim to make a tangible difference—one brighter day at a time.

Join the crew

If you value content that is authentic, fact-driven, and unapologetically transparent, you’ve found your home. I am committed to delivering meaningful, impactful work that sparks conversation and challenges conventional narratives. Though I may lack formal journalism training, I make up for it with passion, diligence, and a relentless pursuit of the truth. I have committed over 40 hours a week since January 2023 learning new skills like graphic design, audio and video editing, writing, NFL history and research. I did all of this while battling cancer and still fight everyday. My quest to one day be the best at what I do in this space will drive this platform to the top. I would be honored to have you along for the ride. Together, let’s build something extraordinary.
